3D Printing Podcast interview with Ryan at Formlabs. We spoke to Ryan at the latest 3D Printing Conference about his firm’s 3D Printers and free software. This is a forward thinking company that has a lot to talk about as far as the 3D Printing Industry goes.

Interesting 3D Printing Store idea, for sure

From the Formlabs site:
“That details matter when you design and engineer a product and that effort is wasted if it doesn’t improve the customer experience. That you should love working with your team. That people can manage their own schedule and get their work done. That work should be a passion, not a job.”

3D Printing Audio Podcast – 3D Printing Interview With Solid Concepts

solid concepts diagram

3D Printing Interview with Eric of Solid Concepts. Solid Concepts is a seven-facility company with project management and engineering expertise. Prototyping and low-volume production of plastic and metal components directly from design data is easily achieved with our broad selection of technologies and materials.

Additional capabilities in tooling and injection molding make Solid Concepts your one-stop source to bring your concept from prototype to finished product ready for market.

This could be a great tool for firms wishing to do 3D printing and development, without the overhead.

3D Printing Podcast From the 3D Printing Conference

3D Printing Interview with Ms. Rebecca Swensen of Spaceclaim. She briefly discusses her 3D Printing Software and the ease of use that the clients have mentioned.

As a matter of fact, she trained herself on how to use it!  The company line: “The 3D direct modeling software for non-CAD experts that’s easy to use, interoperable, and fast.”

Listen to Rebecca as she discusses her 3D Printing Software.

3D Printing Radio Show – Will Safer Materials Be Used in 3D Printing?

Are 3D Printed materials  Safe to put in your mouth?

What happens when we use ceramic? Models made out of ceramics are constructed from alumina silica ceramic powder and sealed with porcelain and silica. The glaze that is applied after printing is a lead free, non-toxic gloss. The material is heat resistant (up to 600°C), recyclable, and currently the only food safe 3D printing material. All of this makes it the perfect material for home decor stuff and table ware, especially when food and beverages get involved.

3D Printing Podcast – Do 3D Printers Use Toxic Material? Will 3D Printing Get Safer?

Are 3D Printers using safe materials?

And, what exactly is “safe” anyway..?
If we eliminate the obvious, the fact that the belts and motors can pinch a finger as well as a heater block operating at 200+c will definitely burn you, we are left with the one unknown.  That is of any hazardous fumes and odors that may be emitted by heating the plastics.  We not only can’t see these gasses, but most of us don’t have a device at hand to make a measurement.

3D Printing Industry Podcast – Trends of the 3D Printing Market

World demand for 3D printers and related materials and software is projected to rise 21 percent per year to $5.0 billion in 2017. While professional uses such as prototyping will continue to account for the majority of demand, the more rapid growth will be seen in production and consumer applications. 3D printers will increasingly be used to manufacture direct production parts and finished goods in a wide variety of applications. Freedonia analyst Pauline Tung expects “greater adoption of additive manufacturing technologies as 3D printing speeds and material quality improves.”

Robust growth will be seen in demand for printing materials, as the rapidly expanding installed base of 3D printers fuels related materials consumption. Plastics will continue to account for the majority of materials demand, but faster growth is projected for metals, based on their greater strength and resistance, as well as rapid gains in markets such as aerospace. Demand for software and other 3D printing products such as 3D scanners will grow in line with the overall average, supported by the ongoing need for technological updates and upgrades.
